This song has been my jam of late and with good timing too, as this video was just released a few days back. If you’re not already familiar with Seattle’s Shabazz Palaces, then I welcome you to indulge in what might be some of the freshest vibes this side of 2010. Look for these guys in a city near you as they embark on a world tour this Spring. And look for Shabazz Palaces’ Ismael Butler at 2:55.
Unable to get into the studio to work on new material, Deadmau5 has taken it upon himself to rework some of his recent work. The results? Impressive. Joel makes his 4×4=12 track ‘Cthulhu Sleeps’ into a new kind of beast, all while enjoy a nice slumber apparently. Listen in and have your say below.
There really is no need for words in this space. The work of these dudes last year should more than speak for itself. Delivering maniacal performances wherever they went and thrashing the shit out of records was regular business for Toronto’s Zeds Dead. Capping off a huge calendar year with their Graveyard Tour, the momentum continues with the boys new EP Adrenaline. The four track set doesn’t drop til January 23rd via Inspected Records but you can wet your appetite with the tune ‘In The Beginning’ below. Other goodies as well.
I saw some glimpses of this potentially emerging trend last year and I’d have to say that I was really turned off. Attempts at slappin’ a rapper on top of some dubstep production just didn’t seem to work in my ears; a disaster in the worst sense. Then I come across the work of these dudes from Atlanta and I maybe, just maybe, there’s hope for the legion of adventurous hip dubbers (brutal, but that’s what I’m gonna go with for now). With their Transformers In The Hood mixtape on the horizon, FKihave let loose their latest ‘I Think She Ready’ for the masses. Known to label their tracks as ‘hip hop dubstep’, the group has taken a more conventional approach for this cut and with DiploandHeroes x Villians handling production duties. The song features Australian female MC Iggy Azalea, so all the more reason to click play below.
A new mellow joint from left coasters Mansions On The Moon (one of the best band names going right now). To get the hype a-going for their forthcoming EP Lightyears, the band’s releasing a new track every so often for free. Listen, Discuss, Share ‘Rest of Your Days’ down under.
Sweet symphonic sounds to start the new year right. Canada’s own Teen Daze dropped this free track over the weekend in celebration of 2012 and celebrate it does. Utilizing a sample of Earth Wind & Fire’s 1981 single ‘Let’s Groove’, the disco house track is a surefire way to cook up some funkytown magic. Listen and Download below.
New Year, fresh start, new faces, high hopes, and new adventures. 2012. Hopefully it turns out the way we would like and if not, well, hopefully you get to lick face and slap the party bass often. Here’s a set of tunes for your listening pleasure, so dig in. And Happy New Year.
